Datejust Super Clones
The all-rounder, and a masterclass in dial printing.
The Datejust is the most versatile Rolex and one of the most cloned, precisely because it is so common — buyers see real ones constantly, so a clone has to be right. Fluted or smooth bezel, Jubilee or Oyster bracelet, a dozen dial colours: the Datejust is a configuration game.
Current 41mm references like the 126334 and 126234 use the 3235 movement; the 36mm and two-tone variants round out the line.
What it takes to clone the Datejust
On a Datejust, the dial and the cyclops do the talking. The applied markers, the minute track and the 'Datejust' script must be printed with no fuzz, and the cyclops has to deliver the real 2.5x magnification with the date centred and snapping over crisply at midnight. The Jubilee bracelet's five-link construction is the other tell.
How to spot a quality Datejust clone
- Cyclops: genuine 2.5x magnification, date centred, clean midnight change.
- Dial printing: sharp applied indices and crisp text under a loupe.
- Fluted bezel: even flutes, bright finish, no soft edges.
- Jubilee bracelet: even five-link rows, tight clasp, no rattle.
- Correct proportions for 41mm vs 36mm — the wrong case size reads as off.

What should I check on a Datejust super clone?
The cyclops magnification (a true 2.5x), the sharpness of the dial printing, and the Jubilee or Oyster bracelet construction. The Datejust is so familiar that those everyday details are what give a clone away.
